BOTOX
- WRINKLE REMOVAL
Can't
Get Rid of Wrinkles? Try Botox!
If you've begun to notice a persistent furrow in your brow,
one that doesn't let up and always makes you appear tired
and old, you don't have to suffer through it. There are
ways of looking your age (or a little younger) and of
making your appearance reflect the way you feel. Botox
can smooth out that pesky wrinkle, and might even help
keep future wrinkles away!
Botox is commonly used on the vertical
wrinkles between the eyebrows, on the horizontal wrinkles
across the forehead, and on crow's feet, or the angled
wrinkles that appear on the sides of the eyes. Botox is
injected in small doses right into the muscle that controls
the wrinkle. The Botox causes the muscle to relax, and
the skin to subsequently flatten out, smoothing the wrinkle.
What to Expect:
Patients can easily continue their day right after treatments,
driving themselves back home or even to work. The results
are not apparent immediately, but will appear several days
after treatment. Once the smooth results show up, they'll
remain for about 3-6 months. There are exciting studies
showing that the duration of results increase with each
subsequent Botox treatment, so regular Botox patients will
be able to eventually get treatments less frequently.
Botox can be extremely effective on
its own, but may be performed in conjunction with other
aesthetic treatments for added benefits. Other such treatments
may include a chemical peel, collagen, microdermabrasion,
or laser skin rejuvenation.
Good
to Know...
Botox have been used for over a decade as a wrinkle removal,
and with safe and effective results. It has gained amazing
popularity through the years. In fact, thousands of patients
receive cosmetic Botox treatments each year.
Botox is also used by many people
for the treatment of migraine headaches, hyperhydrosis
(excessive sweating), and more recently, for bladder control.
These are all off-label uses, though, and should be carefully
discussed with your doctor only after the two of you have
explored more traditional treatments.
Botox is quite a simple and safe procedure.
The needle used for the injection is small enough that
there is very little pain associated with the procedure.
Patients often compare the sensation that is felt to a
minor bug bite. As with any medical procedure, there are
some potential risks to be aware of. Some of these may
include bleeding, infection, or droopiness of surrounding
muscles. This is rare and can be avoided through carefully
choosing your doctor and then talking openly about the
risks of the procedure with him or her.
